JD'S TIME MACHINE FEATURING LORENZO OWENS


“When The World Says No” is a new song from award-winning songwriter James Day and balladeer Lorenzo Owens. Like many great soul singers, Lorenzo has his roots in the black church. The Milwaukee born Owens has been singing ever since he was 3 years old. As a small child, he would sing and wow his adult relatives. "I was at my grandma's house, "Reasons" by Earth, Wind & Fire came on the radio and I sang it from front to back. Everybody was like, whoa! is that coming from him?"


While enrolled in college, Lorenzo realized singing was his life's calling. "Singing was something I'd always done, but I never paid attention to it. I had private lessons and I did talent shows. My big song was, "God Bless the Child". Owens was attending college for business and management, but he kept asking himself, "What is it that I really want to do? What would make me happy? I changed majors so many times, I knew I wasn't headed in the right direction. I knew what I really loved was getting out there and feeling the crowd when I sang".


Years later we fast forward to Oprah Winfrey’s Pop Star Challenge, where Owens had his television debut and followed that successful introduction with a successful album release entitled After The Show.


The new single “When The World Says No” is a classy soul gem release deserving of airplay. It features a great full production sound to the inspirational underlying story of defying the limited expectations that the world sets for you, and reaching for a higher level.
