EL JEROME BATTLE
El Jerome Battle from Jacksonville, Florida is a recording artist with a sultry baritone register whose music is infused with an R&B and jazz signature. His style of music was influenced by some of the greats... Luther Vandross, Reverend James Cleveland, Will Downing, Richard Smallwood, Lou Rawls and Al Jarreau to name a few.
His mother started the youth choir at their church, and one day at the age of five, she heard him singing the song, Bread of Heaven by, Reverend James Cleveland and decided to put him in the church choir. But since he was shy and too petrified to sing in front of people it wasn’t until the age of ten when he performed his first solo.
During junior high school he joined the chorus and that’s when his vocal training began. He also joined the chorus during high school, as well as the gospel quartet, The Jacksonville Harmonaires. During this time, he travelled around Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas for various singing engagements.
Jerome’s vocal talent earned him a four year scholarship to Florida Memorial, University (also the Alma Mater of Soul Singer Freddie Lee), where he perfected his craft as a member of the Ambassador Chorale. El Jerome also earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Delta Psi Chapter.
A married father of four, he is currently a member of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Philippian Community Church Choir, and the leader of the Philippian Community Church Men’s Praise Team. El Jerome is currently in the studio completing his first EP.
His new single 'Perfect Love' has earned rave reviews from UK music journalist Bill Buckley who said "a sweet, soulful ballad, ‘Perfect Love’, we’d love to hear more!" The debut single is now available from all good digital outlets via Renegade Soul Records/Renegade Gospel.
