JOETT
Joett is a renowned 90s dance act from Tanzania who's critically acclaimed 2010 comeback pop single I Could Never Live (Without Your Love) reignited his pop recording career and gained him membership to the American Society Of Composers, Authors And Publishers (ASCAP). His follow-up 2012 disco single Color Me Beautiful was selected by hit production teams for Universal, Sony BMG, Capitol, Columbia and Jive Records in the USA for pitching as solicited to record executives and major artists, and introduced him as a promising international songwriter for the US market, to come out of Africa. Joett, who works exclusively with record producers in the UK and the USA to create his music, heads up his own music publishing company Joett Music Publishing, and all of his works are registered with ASCAP, USA. On October 13th 2014, he released a banging nu disco track I'm Gonna Live Forever featuring Tanzanian rapper G Fullah who, sadly, passed away eight days before the release of the single (his debut); and Tanzanian boyband Level One. Sprinkled with uplifting embellishments reminiscent of the Boogie era, the track follows in the footsteps of Joett's debut club hit Afro Lover from 1996. Joett is looking to license his songs to record labels in Europe and North America for use by other artists; as well as to license his tracks for inclusion in dance compilation albums around the world. A celebrated vocal coach and artist development professional in his native country, Tanzania, Joett's most recent accolade comes from vocal coaching and mentoring protégé Mayunga Nalimi, who went on to win the Pan African Airtel Trace Music Star 2015 competition for Tanzania, beating contestants from 12 other African countries in a televised Kenya grand finale that was filled with drama and intrigue, and where mega star Akon was among the judges. Mayunga's win earned him a recording contract with major label Universal Music... and later signed to TRACE; and the opportunity to be mentored by Akon with whom he went on to record the song and video Please Don't Go Away. Meanwhile, Joett, who continues to train Mayunga, is also the official agent to Mayunga and works closely with the record label and entertainment associates for the advancement of Mayunga's career. Joett's latest songwriting milestone "Got U On My Mind", with Joett on vocal and Elisha Sukari on acoustic guitar, is the new addition to Joett Music Publishing/ASCAP, USA song catalog. This acoustic track was recorded in Dar es salaam, and mixed & mastered by King Penn (KP) at Trackwriterz Studio in Atlanta, USA. KP works with Madonna's label Maverick, and has also mixed for Beyonce and 50 Cent. The pop version, performed by American singer Ty Ward, was produced by Ryan Matthews for Coded Sounds in Los Angeles, and is currently being pitched to major and independent record label A&R for placement. The songwriter-producer duo also undertake commissioned songwriting projects for artists signed to record labels in the United States & Europe.
